Colts Face Falcons in German Capital – Week 10 NFL Action

Hello, football fans. Wie gehts? Alles klar I hope on this fine morning kickoff to week 10 coming directly from Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be precise where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the mighty Indianapolis Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on German soil and the initial in the capital city.

Pregame Highlights

As sparkly jackets go that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the coin toss. A minor slip from the broadcast team there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an accidentally live microphone.

Well, the Colts have won the toss and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be setting up shortly. Will the QB bounce back after a difficult performance in their last game?

In a similar vein the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. Loving the sartorial choices today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Classy.

First Quarter Action

Scoreless at 13:30 in the first

And we're off! And we have early drama after the Colts running back receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then loses the ball … only for his center to recover the fumble with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.

Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter

And the drama keeps coming as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a huge hit on the Colts' tight end. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!

Score Recap

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter

Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the high draft pick's professional journey to date.

So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.

An agile 22-yard rush from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter

The quarterback recovers from the turnover by marching his Falcons down the field for a score of their own. The wide receiver makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the seas part for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for 13 yards. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
